NATIONAL AWSCPA SCHOLARSHIPS 

The American Woman’s Society of CPAs in partnership with Wiley to offer nonmonetary national scholarships on a quarterly basis to individuals aspiring to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Also available are scholarships for those pursuing the Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) designation.

GEORGIA AFFILIATE AWSCPA SCHOLARSHIPS

Wiley CPAexcel & CMAexcel (nonmonetary) Scholarships Available

In 2016 the American Woman’s Society of CPAs in partnership with Wiley provided 2 online review course to individuals aspiring to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and 2 for  those pursuing the Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) designation.

To qualify,

  • Must either be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States.
  • Must be eligible to take the CPA/CMA exam within one year of scholarship award.
  • Must activate the Study Program prior to December 31 of the year awarded.
  • Must submit an essay no longer than 1,000 words answering the following questions
    • Why did you choose the field of accounting?
    • Why you believe you deserve this award?
    • Any accomplishments, honors or activities that you believe set you apart from your peers
  • Must provide a CV/Resume showing work experience, if applicable
  • If you have already Graduated, must provide graduation date
  • If you are currently a student, the following additional criteria apply:
    • Must either be an entering Senior, 5th year student or a graduate student.
    • Must have a 3.0 GPA in accounting and a 3.0 GPA overall
    • Must provide a transcript to verify grades, major and classes taken.


Awarded annually are The Legacy Scholarship & The Amy Delaplaine Scholarship

The Legacy Scholarship is awarded to honor the AWSCPA of Georgia Celebrating You: Legacies, Leaders & Luminiaries Honoree.  In recognition of our 35th Anniversary, the 2017 Legacy Scholarship was given in honor of Varley Simons, Charter President and Founder of the  Georgia Affiliate.

The Amy Delaplaine Scholarship was established in 2012 to thank and commenurate the continous commitment of one of our long-time and current members: "AWSCPA-Georgia thanks Amy Delaplaine for keeping the Local Firm Forum, our lunch group, alive and for providing CPE to CPAs for the past two decades. If it weren't for Amy's classy and enduring work, our group wouldn't exist. In her honor, we are dedicating an annual scholarship called "The Amy Delaplaine Scholarship" to a deserving accounting student. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Amy!"  Dianne Moore

On January 12, 2017, at its 35th Anniversary Celebration, the Georgia Affiliate of American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants (AWSCPA of Georgia) awarded each of these scholarships in the amount of $1,750 each.    

Please check back in Fall 2017 for the application deadline and process
for scholarships to be awarded in 2018.

To qualify, the student must meet ALL of the following requirements

  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America
  • Enrolled in a Georgia College or University
  • Declared accounting as major
  • Have completed or currently enrolled in Intermediate Accounting II
  • Check Back - Next submssion date to be determined

Candidates will be evaluated based on their academic performance, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and professional recommendations. Only applications received by the application deadline will be considered.
